A night of fiction with Mary Ann Taylor-Hall and Richard Taylor. Ms. Taylor-Hall will read from her newest book At the Breakers, a novel about a single mother escaping an abusive relationship in Sea Cove, New Jersey at a hotel called The Breakers. Her previous books include Come and Go, Molly Snow and How She Knows What She Knows About Yo-Yos. Richard Taylor, a professor of English at Kentucky State University and former Kentucky poet laureate, will read from his Civil War era novel Sue Mundy, about a cross-dressing outlaw who terrorized Kentucky during the Civil War.

An afternoon of poetry from local poets Leatha Kendrick and Sheri Wright. Ms. Kendrick will read from her new book of poetry, Second Opinion, a poignant and detailed delve into two of the most impacting themes of poetry: love and loss. Ms. Wright is the author of several collections including Sharks Never Sleep, Contains Scenes of Indigenous Nudity, and Nuns Shooting Guns. Come by for what will prove to be an eclectic and touching event.

Poetry night with Frank X. Walker, Maurice Manning and Regina Buccola

A night of poets reading from and discussing their newest works. Acclaimed Kentucky poet Frank X Walker will read from When Winter Come, sequel to the award-winning Buffalo Dance, a book of poetry inspired by York, a slave on the Lewis and Clark expedition. Mr. Walker is the Writer in Residence and lecturer of English at Northern Kentucky University and Editor of Pluck! magazine. Indiana University professor Maurice Manning will read from his newest book of poetry Bucolics. Mr. Manning was awarded the Yale Younger Poets Award, chosen by W. S. Merwin. Regina Buccola will read poems from her book Conjuring. Ms. Buccola is an Assistant Professor of English at Roosevelt University in Chicago and her poetry has appeared in several journals including The Journal of Kentucky Studies.

New Southerner magazine is launching its fall issue with a reading from some contributing writers. Poets Micah Long and Nathan Graziano and fiction writer Jeff Wallace will be in attendance.

Barbara Kingsolver is coming to Louisville to celebrate and read from her new novel The Lacuna. This novel is due for publication on November 3, 2009. The event will be offsite to accommodate a large crowd.
